Therapeutic Arts

“Creativity involves breaking out of expected patterns in order to look at things in a different way” Edward de Bono

What is it?

Getting creative reduces stress and improves social-emotional health. Research shows that a substantial increase in access to the arts has a remarkable impact on a person’s academic, social and emotional wellbeing. The act of listening and understanding is powerful and remedial in itself, learning to be at ease and congruent in feelings and the way they are expressed. We complete the intervention with a creative coaching lesson: focussing on what you aim to learn and achieve, outline some goals and a strategy to move ahead with your process. Sessions broadly follow the same pattern, consisting of: Emotional ‘check-in’, creativity, reflection and emotional ‘check-out’.
